Message for aspiring artists:
Don’t write things because your management tells you to.
Though I love mine,
they can make my job harder.
Sometimes they cause me to confuse the reasons,
the feeling that I reach for everyday,
and sometimes grasp,
and sometimes celebrate.
They are scared,
That you will not understand,
Sawed Off Shotgun.
So they want me to explain it to you.
They are scared,
Because of Columbine.
Because of Paris.
Because of Las Vegas.
Because of white kids with guns.
Because of fools who misinterpret the meaning of freedom.
Because of fools alike who misinterpret the word of God.
Because of the NRA.
Because of Ted Nugent.
Because of Isis.
Because of Trump.
Because of Slavery.
Because of misogyny.
Because of Ike Turner.
Because everyone is scared.
Because everyone is pointing fingers,
and drawing lines in the sand.
I don’t blame them.
I am scared too.
But I will not explain my song to you.
If you like it,
I hope you understand that I wrote it for you.
If you don’t,
I hope you understand that I wrote it for you too.
If you are hurting,
I hope it helps.
If it doesn’t,
I am sorry for that.
I know that some people know feelings that I do not.
Just know that I am not celebrating anyone’s sadness.
I am not celebrating a thing in the world,
with this song.
I am sad too.
Because of Ritalin.
Because of AR-15s.
Because of Fentanyl.
Because of Jesus.
Because I can’t pay the rent.
Because of Detroit.
Because of Flint.
Because of John Wayne.
Because I keep having panic attacks and going to the hospital.
Because of Lena Dunham.
Because of The Bank of America.
Because of Syria,
a country that was beautiful before the war - but we wouldn’t know.
Because I miss my girl.
Because of Robert E. Lee.
Because of the Clintons.
Because my mother just returned from surgery,
and I was scared the pain in her stomach was cancer.
Because of Cocaine.
Because of McDonald’s.
Because of Jordan B. Peterson,
who I can’t help but agree with on a couple things,
not all things,
and I don’t even know if that’s okay anymore.
Because I miss Campo Viejo.
Because California is turning grey.
Because of the Marlboro Man.
Because the litter on the side of the road in Prince Edward Island is probably from Ontarian tourists.
Because I am still trying to figure out who I am,
without alcohol dancing in my veins.
I would like to know your reasons,
whoever you are.
Not for comparison,
But to feel.
I want to feel like you,
though I never will.
And sometimes I don’t,
because I’m scared of the pain.
But I hope we can try,
You and I.
As for the song,
know this is true.
I only wrote it,
because I love you.

We are still playing at Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, AL on May 18th and continuing with the rest of the dates as scheduled.
Tuesday, June 26th we get to open for The Rolling Stones in Marseille, France.
I’ve been to three Stones concerts. My mother’s been to about 10. Growing up, they were rock and roll personified in my household. They were the gods that we measured ourselves up to when we started this band. This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I can’t wait to get out in front of them and steal all their fans.
See you in France! Tickets are available here.
We announced a bunch of new summer festivals in recent days and wanted to recap them for you below.
All the ticket links can be found in the tour section of the site. If you don't see your city or region listed, rest assured we've got plans to be back your way very soon, so stay tuned for more details in the weeks and months to come.
I don’t feel different waking up today. Don’t get me wrong, yesterday’s Juno award is highly appreciated, but it changes absolutely nothing for us as a band. The process is still the same: One song at a time, one show at a time, one fan at a time. This is the formula that has allowed us to cultivate a love for what we do, and a fan base who feels the same. The real reward for me has been the phone calls, texts and posts from all of our friends, fans and family. It feels as if a whole community won the award. It is with that sentiment, that I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This is nothing, if not the beginning.
Brett and the boys.
Back in December we had a great week visiting London UK. While we were there we did a session at this incredible spot called Fiction Studios. It's literally a film set of a library, turned into an audio recording studio. The vibe in there is amazing. We recorded a couple of tracks with video, including this cover of Kanye West's "Runaway".
The track will be available globally on audio streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music tomorrow, so stay tuned. We hope to enjoy!
It's been a busy week in Glorious Sons land. We kicked it off with a show for 200 friends, family and fans at the Merchant Tap House in Kingston. Followed that up with our biggest headline show to date, nearly 6,000 people filled the K Rock Centre to celebrate it's 10 year anniversary with us. The next morning we jumped in a van to the airport and flew to Berlin to begin our 12-date European tour!
Our BBC Radio 1 session recorded at the historic Maida Vale Studio in London back in December was broadcast on Sunday night as part of BBC's Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter. You can check it out here, or below:
And today, our interview and stripped down performance recoded at CBC's q in Toronto earlier in February. You can listen to the interview and performances here, or below:
Big day today, as our album "Young Beauties and Fools" was released on CD and LP in Europe by our great team over at Earache Records. Make sure you pop out to a store to grab one, or find any number of ways to stream or purchase it online HERE. Thanks to everyone who has checked out the album so far! Please share it around and we hope to see you at a show very soon.
Speaking of shows, in addition to our upcoming headline tour, today we are able to announce that we will be joining the likes of Kings of Leon and Billy Talent on the 2018 Reading and Leeds Festivals! The full current lineup is in the festival poster here. We can't wait for this one!
Finally, tune in to BBC's Radio 1 Rock Show on Sunday where they will be airing our BBC session recorded at Maida Vale Studios in London back in December. Brett will also be speaking with host Daniel P. Carter as well.
A lot of great news in Europe! Come celebrate with us next week!
We're very proud to have been nominated for "Rock Album of the Year" at the 2018 Juno Awards. Huge thank you to our families, all of the fans and our team for helping us birth "Young Beauties and Fools", it's great to be recognized.
The awards are given out on the weekend of March 24th in Vancouver. Stay tuned for more info, and you can check out the full list of nominees here.
Our tour schedule keeps getting busier! Today we're announcing 6 new tour dates in the US for March! We've been to a few of these places before and can't wait to get back. We will also be adding some dates to this run so tay tuned for more. Tickets for these shows go on sale Friday, January 12th at 10AM local time. Ticket links can be found in the TOUR section.
